As any seasoned hiker or backpacker knows, anything that can save you space in your bag is worth doing. That’s part of what makes dehydrated foods great for backpackers — they don’t take up a lot of room in your pack. However, as the video below demonstrates, there is at least one way to have them take up even less precious space.
It’s a simple idea, but an effective one. If you only watched the first half of the video, you might be tempted to just throw away the original packaging for each of your dehydrated meals after bagging them. But, let me say from experience, holding onto those empty bags will make clean up much easier. Afterall, saving space and weight is great but saving time is a blessing as well.
